Intro paragraph: In Mark Twain's The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Huck, the protagonist, Huck, is greatly influenced by four people: Widow Douglas, Tom Sawyer, Pap, and Jim.
Conclusion Paragraph: Without these key influences in his life, Huck would be a very different person.
Widow Douglass influenced Huck because she has taught him about the bible, and tried to civilize him. Pg.1 “the widow Douglass, she took me for her son, and allowed she would civilize me,” it helped Huck become a better person and learn manners. Pg 13 He thinks I could have been better and treated her better.
Tom Sawyer influenced Huck by making him leave his new home and family to join a gang, and do bad things. Pg.3 “I heard a twig snap, down in the dark amongst the trees—something was a stirring. I set still and listened. Directly I could just barely hear a “me-yow! me-yow!” down there. That was good! Says I, “me-yow! me-yow!” as soft as I could, and then I put out the light and scrambled out of the window onto the shed. Then I slipped down to the ground and crawled in amongst the trees, and sure enough there was Tom Sawyer waiting for me.” Every time Huck does something adventures he says “Tom Sawyer would like this or what would tom do”. Pg
Pap influenced Huck because when ever Huck starts to get his life together he shows up and trys to make him stop the good things that he has accomplished. Pg 14 “looky here- you drop that school you hear? I'll learn people to bring up a boy to put on airs over his own father and let on to be better'n what he is. You let me catch you fooling around that school again you hear..." Huck thinks back to when his dad use to tan him. Pg14 "I used to be scared of him all the time he tanned me so much.."
Jim influences Huck because it seems to me that when Huck is with him he makes smarter decisions.
